Superbowl weekend is approaching fast and even if you don't care about the teams playing or know nothing about American Football, you're probably going to a Superbowl party anyway. The Superbowl catches the attention of over 100 million viewers which presents a huge opportunity for businesses to advertise early in the year. However, this year viewers will be introduced to a new way to interact with these high budget commercials. Shazam! Most known for its music tagging, Shazam has signed a deal to be included in about one-third of the 2012 Superbowl ads. Shazam is an application for mobile devices, that listens to several seconds of a song and can identify it. For example, if you are in a coffee shop and you hear a song you like but don't know the name of it, Shazam will identify it and store its information on your device.

Shazam will be able to tag and identify ads and offer users incentives. Viewers of the Toyota ad will be able to use Shazam to enter a contest to win two free Camrys. Also in return for using Shazam, users will be rewarded additional videos, awarded gift cards and other special offers.

This should be a big day for Shazam to reveal its new capabilities. Lets just hope its users remember how to use this application after a few drinks.
