Friday Potpourri + Cookie Recipe
- So a little thing called SXSW was going on. Didn't get to go? trendcentral has a list of big ideas coming out of Austin this year. One of my favorites is Neighbor Goods - that connects you with your neighbors to share goods like ladders, cups of sugar, etc. Granted, I might not want to interact with all my neighbors (especially the one who keeps leaving his trash on our lawn, he's the worst) but I'm excited to give this idea a shot. I've been having some issues with mice, so I'd really like to borrow a cat. Just kidding. Sort of.
- KONY 2012. Love it or hate it, we're all talking about it and all non-profits (should) want to have their own KONY 2012. Communicopia has a great article on "Why your non-profit won't make a KONY 2012." My favorite reason: "You run 18 campaigns & your site has 35 calls to action." But they're all worth a read and offer valuable tips on how to improve your campaigns.
- As marketers I think we're all still learning how to best utilize Pinterest. SocialBrite has a quick little guide for non-profits and the like on what to pin (spoiler alert: it's not your logo) and what not pin.
And because it's Friday - here is my mostly can't fail, super easy Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe:
Combine ...
1 1/3 cup flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
In another bowl ...
½ cup unsalted butter (1 cube)
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla (essence)
Mix and scoop 1 tablespoon sized drops onto baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.
